Dr. Gulnaz Jiwa MD, FRCSC

Dr. Gulnaz Jiwa is a physician trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been serving patients in Edmonton, AB since 1999.
Dr. Jiwa did undergraduate training in sciences University of Alberta (UofA), and obtained her MD at the University of Western Ontario, London. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the UofA in 1999.
Today, she practices at the Lois Hole Hospital Centre for Women, Zia Medical & Women’s Health Clinic, and Links Clinic.
An Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Alberta, Dr. Jiwa participates in training and research that will ultimately enhanced knowledge and lead to improved learning for the next generation of doctors. Dr. Jiwa co-leads the clinical rotation for OBGYN students at the University of Alberta Hospital, and ensures comprehensive education for medical students.
She is part of the clinical team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Colposcopy Program, and considers one of the most rewarding aspects of her career to be preventing cancer through testing and pre-cancer treatments.
As an experienced physician, she recognizes that in the past 20 years, significant priorities in Women’s Women’s health include a shift toward preventative medicine and mental health. Dr. Jiwa is passionate about connecting with and providing medical care to marginalized communities, specifically with indigenous groups and new Canadians.
